We have added Google Custom Search to our /db live demo website. Since /db generates links to related records, Google’s web crawler was able to seamlessly index entire database. All we had to do is just add a search box and instantly our database content became searchable.
This can be a powerful feature when deploying /db on intranets. Users with domain knowledge often struggle with locating data for analysis or reports. By simply searching for something they know, they can quickly arrive at the right context, see the data in HTML and then use the same URL to retrieve the data in a format most suitable for their work (i.e. XML, JSON, CSV).
